Liz Behrens

Occupation: Returning Officer, Elections Ontario

Bio:  Liz Behrens was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and immigrated with her parents in 1951. Liz graduated from Essex District High School and studied Human Resources at Sheridan College. Liz began active volunteering by establishing the Block Parent Program at her children’s school in 1975.  She spent 20 years as an Elected Official with the Town of Oakville and Region of Halton.  She served on numerous boards and committees including Oakville United Way and Senaca Seniors Day Program Halton.

Liz became an Executive Director of the Bronte Village BIA 2001 and served on the Ontario BIA Association as a Director and Volunteer in 2004and is still a volunteer on one of the committees.

Liz became Returning Officer for the Province of Ontario with Elections Ontario 2007 and continues in that role.  

Liz’s volunteer work continues as President of Oakville Community Homes Inc. She has been a Rotarian since 2005 and a Member of Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar.
